Fireworks Restrictions
Illegal firework warnings will not be issued! Citations will be issued. We want everyone to have a good time. Please use common sense. Let’s all be safe!
This year’s extreme wildfire conditions across Utah have prompted Governor Spencer J. Cox to issue a temporary statewide executive order restricting personal fireworks use, while wisely empowering local governments to designate safe areas in consultation with fire officials.
Approved fireworks may be discharged:
- From July 2 through July 5 and 9PM – Midnight on July 4th.
- From July 22 through July 25
- On January 1 and December 31 (11 am – 1 am Jan.1)
- The day before and on the Chinese New Year
- From 11 am to 11 pm (exception: Midnight on July 4 and July 24)
These restrictions will be aggressively enforced. Violators are subject to maximum fines under the law.
Stage 1 Fire Restrictions are the first level of restrictions. Open fires are limited to approved fire rings or grills in developed areas, and restrictions usually include fireworks, exploding targets, tracer ammunition, smoking near dry vegetation, cutting or welding in dry vegetation, and equipment without spark arrestors.
Stage 2 Fire Restrictions are more restrictive. They prohibit all open fires of any kind, including campfires, charcoal grills, pellet grills, and other ash-producing fuels. Stage 2 restrictions still include the Stage 1 restrictions and are intended to reduce more ignition sources during extreme fire danger.
