FARMINGTON FIRE DEPARTMENT – I-15 EAST – STAGE 2 FIRE RESTRICTION GUIDANCE

Fire Restrictions Expanded Across Utah Stage 2 Map

Area Covered: All areas of Farmington City east of I-15. This includes both public and privately-owned land.

Purpose: These restrictions are intended to reduce preventable ignition sources during extreme fire danger. They are separate from the fireworks-only rules and apply to open flames, campfires, recreational fires, smoking, and equipment use.

Allowed

Smoking:
Smoking is allowed only inside an enclosed vehicle or enclosed building/area. Smoking is not allowed on trails, in dry vegetation, near combustible grasses/weeds, or in open wildland areas. All smoking material must be fully extinguished and properly disposed of.

Cooking Devices:
Propane, natural gas, or other pressurized liquid/gas cooking devices are allowed only if the device has a working shutoff valve and is used in a safe, cleared area away from dry vegetation and combustibles.

Examples generally allowed when used safely:

  • Propane barbecue grill
  • Natural gas grill
  • Propane camp stove
  • Gas griddle
  • Gas cooking appliance with an on/off valve

Not Allowed

The following are not allowed east of I-15 while Stage 2 restrictions are in effect:

  • Campfires
  • Recreational fires
  • Fire pits
  • Portable outdoor fireplaces
  • Wood-burning fires
  • Charcoal grills
  • Pellet grills
  • Smokers using solid fuel, pellets, charcoal, or ash-producing fuel
  • Any open fire of any kind
  • Recreational vehicles, OHVs, ATVs, dirt bikes, or other internal-combustion equipment operated without a properly installed and working spark arrestor
  • Any fire or heat source that creates sparks, embers, ash, or an unreasonable ignition hazard
