Does Farmington City actually recycle? YES!!! All recyclables are sent to the Davis Material Recovery and Transfer Facility (the MRF). Take the tour by CLICKING HERE! Recyclable material with a value is recovered at the MRF, baled, and sold to reputable recyclers. Combustible materials with no market value are shredded as alternative fuel and delivered to the cement kiln at Devil’s Slide for recycling as fuel to make cement. Wasatch only landfills the materials that cannot be recycled in some practical or cost-effective way.
NEW Green Waste Recycling! During March and April, you will receive a green waste cart to recycle organic materials because of an important relationship with Farmington City and Wasatch Integrated Waste Management District (WIWMD). WIWMD is a Utah special service district that provides sustainable, cost-effective, and environmentally sound solid waste management for most of Davis County and Morgan County. WIWMD will turn your green waste into valuable wood chips and compost. For a full list of acceptable organic materials, CLICK HERE! With Farmington residents composting valuable organic materials, we will create beneficial landscaping materials, save landfill space, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, create more jobs, and reduce city costs through WIWMD’s recycling incentive.
Garbage Can Guidelines (Robinson may refuse to collect garbage if these guidelines aren’t followed):
1. Please have your trash container at the curbside by 6:00 a.m. on collection day. Pick-up times may vary. If you don’t get your container out in time, there will be a fee to come back and service your container.
2. Place your container at the curbside, facing the street. Do not place your can on top of the curb. For those without a curb, place it within two feet of the blacktop.
3. Do not place the container near parked vehicles or other obstructions. When dumping your container, the driver must have clear access to it.
4. Do not place the container where it will block the delivery of your mail.
5. If you have two or more containers, place them four feet apart.
6. Do not place the following items in your trash container: hot ashes or coals, large quantities of dirt, sod, rocks or concrete, flammable materials, large bulky items, construction, remodeling, or demolition debris.
7. Do not place an item of length greater than four feet in the container.
Do not overload refuse over the top of the container.
Be sure to remove your container from the street by the end of the day.
