2025 Municipal Election

In 2025, the positions of Mayor and two City Council seats (each with a four-year term) will be up for election. Candidates run at-large and are elected by all voters citywide, rather than by district or precinct.

A Primary Election will be held if more than two candidates file for Mayor and/or more than four candidates file for City Council. The 2025 Municipal Primary Election will be conducted by mail on August 12, 2025 (UCA 20A-1-201.5). The Municipal General Election will also be conducted by mail on November 4, 2025 (UCA 20A-1-201).

Ballots will be mailed to all active registered voters three weeks before the election(s).

Mailed ballots must be received by the County Clerk’s Office by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day or they will not be counted.


Declaration of Candidacy period:

Monday, June 2 through Friday, June 6 from 8 am to 5 pm

Qualified individuals interested in running for office must appear in person to submit their declaration of candidacy with the Farmington City Recorder at Farmington City Hall, located at 160 South Main, Farmington, Utah.

Candidates are subject to disclosure requirements identified in UCA §10-3-208 Campaign Finance Disclosure in municipal election §10-3-301.5 and Conflict of Interest Disclosure Statement for Municipal Office.

Municipal Elections are held every other year. Municipal Elections do not occur the same year as the Federal Presidential elections, except for ballot propositions.

Here is some key information about our Municipal Elections:

  • Mayor and Council terms are for four years
  • Elections for elected officials are generally held on odd years (i.e. 2023, 2025, 2027, etc)
  • The Primary Election (if more than six candidates for City Council declare) are held by mail in August (ballots are mailed out approximately three weeks prior to the election)
  • The General Election is conducted by mail in November (ballots are mailed out approximately three weeks prior to the election)
  • The election is non partisan, meaning a candidate is not nominated by a party.
  • Candidates are at large and elected by all voters in the City, not just one district or precinct.
