Level Discriptions
Parent & Tot 6mo-2 years

A parent helps the child with the first interaction with water. The child’s confidence is built as the parent and child work toward water adjustment and safety goals.

Beginner 1 – 3 years

This is the child’s first independent experience in the water without a parent present. With the teacher’s support, the students work on increasing their confidence in water while learning basic water skills.

Beginner 2 – 3-4 years

The child is more confident in the water, can get their face wet, and listens to the teacher. This level starts with support and ends with independence. You must be able to float to pass.

Intermediate 1 – 4-6 years

By the end of this level, children are purely independent and can float independently. They will also learn to swim independently for a short distance, and stroke development begins.

Intermediate 2 – 6-7 years

Children must be able to swim a short distance independently with attempts to put their face in the water while swimming. They learn rhythmic breathing for front crawl and more complex stroke steps at this level.

Intermediate 3 – 7-9 years

Students are expected to be able to swim Front Crawl independently with some confidence, as they will be asked to swim short distances. They will learn more difficult strokes, such as Breaststroke and Sidestroke.

Advanced 1 – 8-12 years

Students are expected to swim confidently and be asked to swim at least 15 yards frequently. They will build on their previous knowledge of strokes and begin to swim breaststroke and butterfly.

Advanced 2 – 8-12 years

Students will be building endurance and perfecting strokes. They will be asked to swim 25 yards frequently to help build endurance and increase confidence with strokes. All strokes are covered and critiqued at this level, and introductory diving is taught.

Advanced 3 – 8-12 years

This class is for students who understand most strokes. Endurance is increased, and stroke perfection is stressed. This will help students who wish to join a swim team gain confidence or feel more confident about their strokes.
