Farmington City Police Department has officially opened a “Safe Exchange Zone”. The safe exchange zone is an area that is well lit 24 hours a day, under 24 hour recorded video surveillance and within a few feet of the Police Department’s front doors.

The Safe exchange is meant for the sole purpose to offer the city residents and visitors an area that is safe to exchange kids between parents or conduct personal online transactions.

The two stall safe zone is located in the parking lot south of the Police department building. The two designated stalls are each marked with a sign.

For information or questions on the Safe Exchange zone, please contact the Farmington Police Department at (801)-451-5453.

Every year in December, the Davis County Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police organizes an event called “Shop with a Cop”.

Less Fortunate children are recommended through Child Protective Services and the Davis County School system for this event.

The officers meet with the children on a Saturday morning at a local restaurant and are given a complimentary breakfast with the Officer and are given time to get to know one another.

A Police procession is held from the restaurant and a preassigned local (for the last few years, Wal-Mart has hosted the event) retail store where Sana Claus meets the children arriving in a Life Flight / Air Med helicopter.

The children are given a gift card and then do their Christmas shopping with the Officer they had breakfast with.

Farmington City Police Department has proudly attended this event in mass for over 20 years.

The Farmington City Police Department has made available a prescription drug drop off box in the front lobby of the police station located at 286 South 200 East.

  • You can drop off any expired or unneeded medications there M-F 8am-5pm.
  • Please bag all items in a plastic bag (grocery or zip-lock will do) before bringing them to the drop-off box.
  • Please no hypodermic needles.

Disposing of expired and unneeded prescription drugs is a safe way to keep them away from drug abusers and out of the reach of children.

Introduced to educate citizens about the structure and activities of local law enforcement, the Citizen Police Academy is an exciting opportunity to gather information while providing a behind the scenes look at various functions of the Police and Fire Departments of Davis County.

The premise of our program is to educate citizens so that they can better understand local law enforcement and how it functions. Additionally, those completing the program have the potential of becoming more productive within their own neighborhoods and communities.

During the course you will experience: classroom presentations, lectures, hands on experiences and on-site tours that offer participants valuable insight into the operations of the Public Safety departments of Davis County. These experiences along with true established relationships with law enforcement further improve the quality of life throughout the county, whether residential or business.

The Citizen Police Academy is designed to build a bond of mutual trust and respect between the police departments and the citizens of the county. Additionally the academy highlights the importance of citizen participation in public safety, helping our community remain free from the fear of crime.
